We'll cut the key.

Lost your spare? You don't need to bring the original key to us. Send the key code with your proof of ownership, and we'll cut and program a new key, then bring it to you.

A different way to replace a key

The original key stays lost. The car stays parked.

The usual way

Bring the key, or tow the car

  • A working key has to be brought in to copy
  • No key at all often means towing the car to a dealer
  • Days of waiting for parts and workshop slots
  • Dealer pricing for a part you only need once
The Khethokuhle way

Send us the code

  • Your key code and proof of ownership are all we start with
  • We cut the blade to factory specification from the code
  • We program the transponder and remote to your vehicle
  • We bring it to your home, office, showroom or yard
How it works

Four steps from code to keys in hand

01

Send the code

Use the form or WhatsApp. Share the key code, the vehicle's make, model and year, and the VIN.

02

We verify ownership

We check your ID and registration papers, or a dealer or bank mandate. No verification, no key.

03

We cut and program

The blade is cut from your code and the electronics are matched to the car. How we do it stays in the workshop.

04

We hand it over

We meet you at the vehicle, sync the key, and test the start, the locks and the remote before we leave.

Where's my key code? It's usually on a small metal or plastic tag that came with the keys, or in the service book or owner's pack. Can't find it? Send what you have and we'll tell you what's possible for your vehicle.

Who we serve

From one lost spare to a whole yard of stock

Any car without a full set of keys is harder to sell, harder to release and harder to live with. We work with private owners and with businesses that move vehicles every week.

Private owners

Lost the spare, or down to your last key? Get a backup before it becomes an emergency.

  • Spare and replacement keys
  • Remote fobs re-paired
  • We come to you

Pre-owned dealerships

Buyers ask about the second key. A car sold with two keys reads as a car that's been looked after.

  • Second keys for trade-ins
  • Batch jobs on the showroom floor
  • Account billing

Banks & repossession agents

Repossessed vehicles often arrive with no keys at all. We get them driveable for storage, inspection and resale.

  • All-keys-lost jobs
  • Work done at the storage yard
  • Mandate-based verification

Auctions, fleets & rentals

Keep vehicles moving between lots, branches and buyers without waiting on a dealer queue.

  • Fleet spares on schedule
  • Pre-auction key sets
  • Job reports per vehicle

Security first

We only cut keys for verified owners

A key code is as sensitive as the key itself. Every job is tied to a confirmed owner or an authorised business before any blade is cut.

Your code and documents are used only for your job. The law requires locksmiths to keep proof of identity and authority for at least three years, so we store those records securely and never share or sell them.

ID checked on every jobRecords kept secureKeys handed over in person

Private owners

South African ID or driver's licence, plus the vehicle registration certificate in your name.

Dealerships

A stock record or trade-in document for the vehicle, and a request on company letterhead.

Banks & agents

The repossession mandate or release letter that names the vehicle by VIN.

At hand-over

We match the VIN on the vehicle to your papers before the key is programmed.

Questions

Before you send your code

Do I really not need the original key?

*For most vehicles, the key code and the car itself are enough. The code tells us how to cut the blade, and the programming is done at the vehicle. If your car needs something extra, we'll tell you before you pay anything.

I don't have the key code. Can you still help?

Often, yes. Send us the make, model, year and VIN and we'll explain the options for your vehicle.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We hand over and program keys at your home, office, dealership floor or storage yard in our service area.

How long does it take?

It depends on the vehicle and the type of key. We'll give you a time and a fixed quote once we've seen your details.

Is my key code safe with you?

Your code and documents are used only for your job and are never shared or sold. Like every registered locksmith, we must keep proof of identity and authority for at least three years, so we store those records securely. We never cut a key without verified ownership. Our Privacy Notice explains the details.

Can dealers and banks open an account?

Yes. We offer account billing, batch scheduling and a job report for each vehicle. Mention it in the form below.

Important: please read before you send
  • You are responsible for the details you give us. If the key code, VIN or vehicle details you send are wrong or belong to another vehicle, a key cut to those details may not work. Re-cutting or re-programming it, and any extra call-out, will be charged to you.
  • We verify before we cut. We will not cut or program a key until you show a valid ID and proof of ownership or authority. We may refuse a job and report it to SAPS if documents appear false.
  • We check the key on the vehicle at hand-over. Our liability for a key we cut or program is limited to re-making it or refunding what you paid for it, unless we acted with gross negligence. This does not reduce your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
